Michel van Kooten
Michel wrote me a great piece about himself. I have only corrected a few Spelling mistakes.
"For as long as I can pronounce the word 'car', I have been interested in cars and motorsport. Last year I participated in a 'alfa pilota' course in Zandvoort and since then the race virus is active in my blood! After this race course I spoke to Pieter Bakker, who lives close to me, and he told me about FISC. Since I had a 1971 Midget mkIII in my garage, I decided to get my race licence and powertune my Midget."
"I took a 3 day race course in December 2001 for my licence. However powertuning my Midget was causing more problems caused by a chronic lack of time! But when I visited the British Car and Lifestyle Fair (FISC drivers meeting) in Lisse , January 2002, there was an offer I couldn't refuse. Dave Shannons car was on show at the fair with the relieving words 'FOR SALE' !"
"So I bought Dave's car and manouvered myself into an impossible situation, for a rookie. I can't do right this year. If I finish at the back everybody will say 'he can't drive', but when I drive in the top 10 everybody will say 'thats because he's got a fast car'! But, OK we'll see what happens. I am sure that I will enjoy racing within the friendly atmosphere of FISC !"
Michel's Car
FISC regulars will know this car. It won the drivers standings in 2000 & 2001. A very quick & well prepared car. Almost complete fibreglass, it has Sebring front end on a RWA Midget rear end.
